The Company

The Erie Canal takes you on a journey to fascination, and Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises can get you there! Their cruises are favorites among guests at Asa Ransom House, and we can’t recommend them enough. Captain Mike and Sharon Murphy began offering these informative adventures in 1987, and they keep getting better. Their location in Lockport, NY, is just a short drive from our inn!

The Experience

When you step aboard the Lockview IV, V, or VI, you’re embarking on a journey you’ll remember for a long time to come. These boats feature comfortable seating, informative narrations, and delightful music from the 1800s! Here’s what to expect during your Erie Canal adventure:

  • Enjoy the experience of “locking through.” (Being raised and lowered almost 50 feet in locks 34 and 35)
  • Cruise under the curious “Upside Down Bridge.”
  • Marvel at the 20-feet high stone walls of the “Deep Rock Cut.”
  • Journey past the widest bridge in the United States. (299 feet wide)
  • Travel under lift bridges.

Cruises cost $18.50 and run from May to October. You’ll learn plenty of history during your two-hour adventure!
